I’ve always loved reading, and over the past year I’ve read books that have stayed with me long after I’ve turned the final page. So, inspired by our little giveaway, I thought I’d share seven of my favourite reads - books that have moved me, captured my imagination or simply been impossible to put down.

Here are six books I’ve loved, and a little about why each one has found a special place on my bookshelf. I hope you discover something you’ll love, too.

Amelia x

Mother Mary Comes To Me - Arundhati Roy

Beautifully written, raw and deeply emotional. Arundhati Roy writes with such honesty and intensity that this book feels incredibly intimate and stays with you long after you’ve finished reading. A truly extraordinary read.

The Correspondent - Virginia Evans

I absolutely loved this book. It made me laugh, cry and, quite simply, I couldn’t put it down. Told through letters, it felt particularly special to me, as letter writing is something my family has always done a lot of. I grew so fond of the characters and was genuinely sad when I reached the end. One of those books you wish you could keep reading just a little bit longer.

London Falling - Patrick Radden Keefe
This was SO good. Utterly horrifying, and all the more extraordinary for being so close to home. An extraordinary story, told in such a brilliant, compelling way. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you’ve finished, and has certainly left me thinking.

Still Life - Sarah Winman
Perhaps a little naughty to include this one as I’ve only just started it, but it’s already everything I’d hoped it would be. Beautifully written, full of warmth and promise, and with the beginnings of a wonderful story. I have a feeling this is going to be a very special read.

Yesteryear - Caro Claire Burke
I read this on holiday, at the same time as a friend, which made it even more fun to discuss as we went along. Weirdly addictive, even though I had very little idea what was going on until the end! Such a clever, unexpected read and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Our Noble Selves - Kate Atkinson

Kate Atkinson is brilliant, and this book is no exception. I absolutely adored it. So beautifully written, wonderfully clever and full of the detail and intelligence that make her such a favourite of mine. A book I loved from beginning to end.
