Where does Citrine originate from?

Citrine dates back to 300 BC during the Hellenistic Age, where it was originally found in Greece. Before it became the popular gemstone that we know and love today, Citrine was originally used in tools. Citrine is found in many countries, with Brazil being the leading producer of the golden gemstone. It has also been found in Madagascar, Bolivia, and Russia.

Citrine is a transparent variety or mineral class of quartz. It takes its golden yellow colour from the iron that’s found within its hexagonal crystal make-up. Despite its name deriving from the French word ‘citron’, meaning lemon and the Latin word ‘citrina’, meaning yellow, Citrine ranges in colour from pale yellow to bright amber to smokey brown, with the occasional rainbow and sparkles.
