To celebrate the release of our latest designs with the wonderful Jo Bucknall, content creator behind @theeditbutton, we caught up with Jo to chat all things Travel. Jo reminisces about her favourite holidays and shares her top packing tips and travel essentials.
1. What’s your dream holiday destination, and why?
Choosing just one feels impossible, but the Philippines—particularly Palawan—completely stole my heart. It’s a destination where every view feels like it belongs on the cover of a postcard, and the beauty is so breath-taking it’s almost surreal. I’ll always choose a beach and sunset when it comes to holiday destinations
2. What’s your idea of the perfect holiday – adventure, relaxation, or a mix of both?
With young children, balance is everything. The perfect holiday blends adventure with moments of relaxation. Our recent trip to Morocco was unforgettable—the children adored surfing, while we indulged in incredible food and some much needed downtime. I also have a soft spot for Peligoni in Greece, which offers the best of both worlds - endless activities for all ages and that quintessential Greek charm. It’s got the perfect blend of delicious food, crystal clear waters, mixed with the fun & adventurous boating culture.
3. Do you have any holiday rituals or traditions that you always follow when you travel?
We like to make the most of mornings. With the children up early, it’s the perfect time for something active—whether that’s a hike, exploring local villages, or a cultural experience. Afternoons, on the other hand, are for long, leisurely beachside lunches or unwinding by the pool. It’s all about balance for all the family.
4. What’s the most memorable trip you’ve ever taken?
When I was younger, I travelled through Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico, and it’s a trip I’ll never forget. It was such a formative experience—I grew up a lot, pushed myself out of my comfort zone, and loved immersing myself in such different cultures. It gave me a real sense of independence, and I’d love to explore more of Central and South America.
5. What are your top three must-have items when packing for a trip?
For me, it’s always a sun hat, a waterproof speaker, and my wash bag (which has all my beauty essentials, make-up, and jewellery inside).
6. Is there one item you always overpack (but can’t bear to leave behind)?
Books! I’m always optimistic and pack too many!
7. What are the absolute essentials in your carry-on bag?
A good book, a great moisturiser/facemask for the plane, snacks for the kids and a soft, lightweight scarf that doubles as a cover-up in the evenings.
8. What’s your top tip for styling jewellery while travelling without overpacking?
Jewellery is the most effortless way to elevate a holiday wardrobe. It takes up no space at all, yet completely transforms an outfit. My philosophy is simple: pack a capsule holiday wardrobe but go big on the jewellery. It’s the easiest way to create endless looks from a streamlined wardrobe.
9. Do you prefer statement jewellery or more subtle, everyday pieces for holiday wear?
I love both. During the day, I tend to gravitate towards simple hoops and delicate bangles, while evenings are made for bold, dramatic pieces—think statement necklaces or striking earrings.
10. What’s the one piece from AUREE that you would absolutely not travel without?
I always travel with a selection of pieces from my AURÉE collection, but this summer I found myself reaching for the chunky gold hoops day after day. They’re timeless, versatile, and instantly chic.
12. Are there any jewellery trends you’re excited to experiment with while on holiday?
I don’t follow trends as such—I prefer timeless pieces that flatter and enhance an outfit. I particularly love the versatility of interchangeable designs, like the gold rings on the rectangular hoops for daytime paired with swimwear and a cover-up, then switching to CZ hoops with drops for a refined evening look.
13. Do you have any styling tips for mixing AUREE’s fine jewellery with more casual or laid-back holiday outfits?
Absolutely—layering is everything. Multiple bangles with swimwear, or mixing hoops with delicate studs for a curated ear, can elevate even the simplest look. A sleek black swimsuit becomes instantly glamorous with a statement necklace or a dramatic pair of earrings. Jewellery has the power to transform the everyday into something more personalised and special.
