Behind The Design | The Gaia Oyster Necklace
The Design
Our latest design, the Gaia Oyster necklace, began with a beautiful Oyster shell found by Rory, Amelia’s eldest son, who wanted to create “a necklace that mummy could sell in her shop.” His oyster design, inspired by cherished days spent along Middleton Beach, where Amelia grew up and now returns with her own children, embodies a sense of nostalgia, family connection, and quiet beauty.
Rory asked "Mama, I found this beautiful shell, can I make a necklace from it?"
From Rory's design, the AUREE team have worked their magic to make the Oyster Shell necklace come to life. Two halves of a shell perfectly suspended with a freshwater pearl encased inside.

The necklace represents the warmth and happiness from being on the beach together as a family in Sussex. It is the perfect piece to keep close, carrying memories of the beach with you wherever life takes you.
Named ‘Gaia,’ after the ancient Greek personification of Mother Earth, the pendant reflects a deep connection to the ocean and a commitment to protecting it.This connection is further honoured as we have joined Work for Good and will donate 50% of profits from every Necklace sold to the Marine Conservation Society, a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean.

We have created two versions, one in Sterling Silver and the other in Gold Vermeil with a freshwater pearl suspended inside. The most precious and meaningful trio.
